Pretoria East Plumbers is a lead referral service. We run this website to connect people in Pretoria East who need plumbing help with licensed, local plumbers operating in the area. We don't carry out plumbing work ourselves.
This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use this website, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013, and the April 2025 Amendment Regulations.
1. What personal information we collect
When you submit a contact form on this website, we collect:
- Your first name
- Your phone number
- Your suburb or area
- A description of the service you need
We also collect website usage data automatically via Google Analytics 4 (see Section 5).
2. Why we collect it
We collect this information so we can refer your enquiry to a qualified, local plumber operating in Pretoria East. They will contact you directly to discuss your needs. Providing your details is voluntary, but without them we can't make the referral.
3. Who your information is shared with
Your contact details will be shared with:
- An independent, licensed plumbing business in Pretoria East. Passing your enquiry to a local plumber is the purpose of this referral service. That business is required under our service agreement to use your information only to respond to your specific enquiry, and not to add you to any marketing list without your separate, explicit consent. They operate independently from us; we are not responsible for the work they carry out.
- Netlify — the platform that processes and temporarily stores form submissions on our behalf. Netlify acts as an operator under POPIA. Their privacy policy is available at netlify.com/privacy.
- Google — via Google Analytics 4, for website analytics only. See Section 5.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with any other third parties.
4. How long we keep your information
Form submissions are retained for 3 months for record-keeping and lead reporting purposes, then deleted. Google Analytics 4 data retention is set to 14 months.
5. Google Analytics 4 and cookies
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which sets cookies in your browser to measure website traffic and usage patterns. GA4 is configured with IP anonymisation enabled — your IP address is not stored in full. No personally identifying information is sent to Google Analytics.
You can opt out of GA4 tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Object to the processing of your personal information
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg.org.za
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@plumberinpretoriaeast.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable time and no later than 30 days.
7. Security
This site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are transmitted securely. We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected individuals as required by POPIA.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change. Continued use of this website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
